On July 25, 2019, The Guitar Bar All-Stars took to Sinatra Park to make another attempt to break the record for World’s Largest Band! This time around they stuck to a best-of sampler from Woodstock to celebrate its 50th anniversary. While the record technically might not have been broken, the Hoboken waterfront certainly experienced some good honest rocking thanks to all the great musicians who came out and played along!
The GUITAR BAR ALL-STARS invite anyone with an acoustic guitar, ukulele, or other acoustic instrument to join us once again in trying to set the record for the World's Largest Band! This year we will be paying tribute to Tom Petty, and playing his songs that all are welcome to join in on. Set at the amphitheater at the idyllic Sinatra Park, this has become a Hoboken tradition that brings everyone together for a great night of music
Join author Warren Zanes for a reading, signing, and Q&A from his book "Tom Petty: The Biography." This will be followed by a set of Petty songs by guest artists Freedy Johnston, Richard Barone, Tammy Faye Starlight, and Renee LoBue backed by the mighty Guitar Bar All-Stars!
Ticket includes signed book, show, and a drink! Available at:
Veteran blues and jazz guitarist Walter Parks has built an international career as the lead guitarist for Woodstock legend Richie Havens, as half of the folk-duo The Nudes, and as leader of the neo-southern rock group Swamp Cabbage. Just as Georgia’s Okefenokee Swamp has served as the headwaters of Florida’s Suwanee River, so has it served as the inspirational headwaters for Walter’s unique guitar concept – a banjo-esque fingerpicking style that toggles between expressing the swamp’s foggy, ambient underbelly and it’s eminent danger via the use of a modicum of pleasant distortion. Inspired by the sultry black gospel that wails from storefront churches and roadhouses in the American southeast, Parks’s raspy vocal lows and soaring operatic falsetto explore the frontier of the modern human spirit in search of a place where it can flourish.
Join us at Guitar Bar Jr. for a night of Parks's wonderful music.
